Our Purpose

The CBL aims to provide an accurate, solid list of users who chose to hack or abuse bugs in Combat Arms. All reports are required to have attached evidence which is used to assess the validity of a claim. Reports are made by players, evaluated by staff members, and used by those same players to decide whether it is appropriate to play a match with someone or not. Should a player believe a decision on a report was invalid, he or she has the option to dispute that report.

Our History

Here is the history of The CBL in the words of its founder, Googlebot:

"Thecaconline.net" was founded by a guy named Cavalry (THaCavalry???) using a host that Mdawg provided. Originally I believe it was going to be a community site. To this day I am unsure of what "CAC" stands for, I've always assumed it meant "Combat Arms Community". When it first launched I came and inquired about it being interested in hosting a dynamic signature generator i had been working on. I had been working with D1S4STER on the signature code for awhile prior and asked if he would like to hop on board and provide some graphics.

After we got things going I had come up with an idea to develop a "Cheat Detector", just a simple script that scanned a players stats and flagged those that were above normal criteria. Couldn't really come up with a solid project, so it was scrapped. Then later on one of the staff members (think it was S7Arbiter) mentioned starting up a legit community similar to the LGC. Somehow from that it resurfaced the cheat detector project and it was morphed into a "Ban List" and since it was going to be for the community it was dubbed the "Community Ban List".

HoclSaber had been a staff member on the signature generator and shortly after launching the CBL we acquired CC_Fang. Together they worked out all the details and guidelines of how the CBL is run today. BCO20 kicked things off by reporting masses of Combat Arms abusers, setting a solid foundation of reports to build on.

From there things took an unexpected leap forward. I don't think any of us could have ever anticipated the impact the CBL would have on the Combat Arms community. None of it would have been or be possible without the great staff team we have and the support and participation from the community.

As Nexon went on in constantly upgrading its services and website, the methods used by The CBL to retrieve player information needed to be updated as-well. Soon these coinciding updates became so common that bugs in the programming of The CBL started to arise. Honorary Member V-Tach stepped in for a period of time and helped when he could but old bugs returned shortly after his departure. Developer SS_Fly decided to take on the task of recoding the entire CBL from scratch thus eliminating the problem of recurring programming errors. His results are seen in the fully stable CBL 2.0 which features an enhanced User Interface, appearance, and usability. That lands The CBL in its rightful place today.
